ITINERARY

DAY 1 — Arrive in Osh Welcome to Kyrgyzstan!! Day 1 is simple — arrive in Osh, check into the guesthouse, and meet the group over a welcome dinner. Osh sits at 960m so it's also your first night of acclimatisation before we head into the mountains. Get some rest — the adventure starts tomorrow :))

DAY 2 — Osh → Sopu-Korgon We head south out of Osh into the mountains. After a scenic drive past yurt camps and local herders, we stop for lunch and do our first proper hike — 17km through a gorgeous gorge at a steady pace to start adapting to the altitude. First night in a guesthouse in Sopu-Korgon with hot water, running water and electricity — enjoy the comfort while it lasts.

DAY 3 — Sopu-Korgon → Sary-Mogol A more relaxed day of driving and short hikes. We visit the Kolduk Lakes in the morning, then continue to the Emerald Lake for lunch in a yurt. In the afternoon we cross the Taldyk Pass at 3,640m — the entire Pamir-Alay mountain range opens up in front of you. We finish the day in Sary-Mogol for our briefing on what's ahead.

DAY 4 — Tulpar-Kol + Lenin Peak views We drive to Tulpar-Kol lake and hike towards Lenin Peak — one of the highest mountains in Central Asia at 7,134m. Two options depending on how everyone's feeling: a solid 7-hour round trip to Travellers' Pass (4,127m), or a shorter 3-hour route with equally incredible views. We sleep in a yurt camp at 3,500m tonight.

DAY 5 — Tulpar-Kol → Zhanyryk Yurt Camp A great mountain day — morning walk through Tuyuk Canyon, lunch back in Sary-Mogol, then a 3-hour hike to our yurt camp at Zhanyryk for the night.

DAY 6 — Sary-Mogol Pass (4,280m) → Aigul Yurt Camp The BIG one. We cross the Sary-Mogol Pass at 4,280m — the highest point of the trek. On the way up you get views of four alpine lakes sitting below the pass, and on the other side we descend to Orozgul's remote yurt camp. No electricity, no signal, no internet — just mountains and good company. Powerbank strongly recommended!

DAY 7 — Aigul Yurt Camp → Kosh-Moinok A long but stunning day — 18km, 7 hours — through the Kichik-Alay region, crossing the Kosh-Moinok Pass and following a river valley to our next yurt camp. Solar-heated water tonight, very well earned.

DAY 8 — Kosh-Moinok → Kojo-Kelen Village A solid 10km, 6 hours — crossing the Sary-Bel Pass through dramatic rock formations and coloured cliffs, descending into the village of Kojo-Kelen for a traditional homestay. Hot shower and WiFi tonight!

DAY 9 — Kojo-Kelen → Jiptik Yurt Camp Following the Ak-Buura River through gorges and lush valleys, steadily climbing towards the Jiptik Pass. 14km, 5 hours — we camp at 3,040m tonight getting ready for tomorrow's final big push.

DAY 10 — Jiptik Pass (4,185m) → Sary-Mogol Second major pass day — crossing the Jiptik Pass at 4,185m. On a clear day you can see Lenin Peak dominating the horizon across the Pamir-Alay Valley. Lunch at the top, then a descent to the transfer point and a drive back to Sary-Mogol for our last night in a proper guesthouse. Hot shower, WiFi, and a big dinner — very well earned!!

DAY 11 — Sary-Mogol → Osh A 4-hour drive back to Osh to close the loop. Trip done — what an 11 days legends xoxox

Frequently Asked Questions

  • You don't need to be an elite athlete but you do need a solid base of fitness. We're hiking up to 7 hours a day across 10 days, reaching altitudes of 4,280m — so if you can comfortably smash out a long day hike, you're in good shape. No prior high altitude experience is required, and the itinerary is designed to acclimatise you gradually. The most important thing is that you're fit, healthy and ready to push yourself :))

  • Some hiking experience is recommended — this isn't a beginner's stroll! That said, you don't need to have trekked at altitude before. If you're regularly active and up for a genuine challenge, you'll be absolutely fine. We're not racing — we go at a pace that works for the group.

  • From Australia, the best routing is to fly into Tashkent, Uzbekistan, then make the journey to Osh by train and bus — around 4 hours in total and a great intro to Central Asia in itself! Alternatively, fly into Almaty, Kazakhstan, and use it as an opportunity to explore northern Kyrgyzstan before joining the trip in Osh. Osh also has a domestic airport with connections from Bishkek if you're already in Kyrgyzstan.

  • Arriving on Day 1 is perfectly fine — no need to come a day early. Just make sure your flights get you into Osh with enough time to get to the guesthouse for the welcome dinner that evening!

  • The trip is $1,700 AUD per person. This covers all accommodation for 10 nights, all meals throughout the trip (breakfast, lunch and dinner), private transport from Osh and back, a professional trekking guide for the full duration, drinking water, and the Tulpar-Kol border permit. It does not include international or domestic flights, travel insurance, airport transfers, tipping, or any personal expenses.

  • A deposit of $600 AUD is required to lock in your place on the trip. This will open through the website on Tuesday 21 April at 4pm AEST. The full remaining balance is due 8 weeks prior to departure.

  • The trip is designed for 18–35 year olds. We're looking for people who are keen, outgoing and genuinely adventurous — the kind of person who gets as excited about the journey as the destination. Good energy and a positive attitude go a long way out there :))

  • Honestly — someone who's up for an adventure, easy to get along with, and not precious about roughing it a little. Some nights you'll be in a yurt with no electricity or running water, sharing space with strangers who'll become good mates by the end of it. If that sounds like your kind of trip, you're probably exactly who we're looking for xoxox

  • YES — travel insurance is mandatory and must include high altitude trekking cover up to at least 5,000m. This is non-negotiable. Please make sure you're covered before joining the trip.

  • Kyrgyz Som (KGS) is the local currency. We recommend carrying around 5,000 KGS in cash for personal expenses — snacks, drinks, souvenirs and the like. Cash is king in rural areas so don't rely on card payments once we're out of Osh.
